The radical images that dominate the works in this exhibition traverse through uncomfortable and gut-wrenching narratives. Here, disconcerting figures and subjects capture unspoken truths, like the reality of widespread violence and the degradation of humanity. As the world becomes more and more desensitized to brutality and oppression, “Bulasok” becomes a force that will strengthen our critical response to these dark times.

Here, man’s atrocities are depicted in several forms: through violence of those in power, greed, and apathy. As we remember, an interpretation of Dante’s “Inferno” proclaims that, “The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis.” Therefore, it is important that we challenge those who remain to be at peace, whilst the atrocities around us. “Bulasok” goes beyond that display of images and artworks; it is a catalyst of a discussion where the eyes meet a mirror into our current times. As we stand in the middle of this exhibition, may we remain disconcerted and disturbed, enough to return to our quiet lives, changed, wanting to stand up against such horrors.
