January 12 to February 4, 2019

IMANIOBRA ushers in the year with a call to action, with selected artists presenting works that shape unsettling realities in contemporary life. With each piece, the current social climate is exposed, touching on politics, the educational system, militarization and even environmental concerns.

As IMANIOBRA awes its audience with the skills and critical readings of the artists involved in the exhibition, it is not unusual for one to be shookt and triggrd. Their artworks, however, do more than just amaze and elicit gasps of recognition: they ask questions. How does an artist, given the tools of the trade, as well as financial, physical and emotional restraints, bind the terrors of this generation onto wall-bound pieces, assemblages and installations? And, more importantly, what maneuvers are needed to set things right?
